Log your first expense

Log the dinner in Smart Ledger. Alice paid ₹1000. Her share is ₹400. Bob’s share is ₹600. After you save, Bob owes Alice ₹600.

Prerequisites

Steps

  1. On the home wallet, open the create sheet and choose Expense.
  2. Select the dinner group.
  3. Set the amount to ₹1000 and the date to today.
  4. Under Paid by, set Alice as the person who paid the ₹1000.
  5. Under Split Between, set Alice’s share to ₹400 and Bob’s share to ₹600.
  6. Leave Place off. On a bill dated today, leave Personal Memories off if this dinner is not part of one. A Group or Shared Memory that is already on is applied unless you turn it off before you save.
  7. Save.

Do not use the Add transfer switch on this screen. That switch records a payment to a merchant on the bill. It does not settle what Bob owes Alice.

What good looks like

Open the expense. Bob owes Alice ₹600. Settlement Path still shows that amount as pending.
