Split Smarter is for spending with other people.

Smart Ledger records an expense: who paid, and who shares the cost. Those are different. The person who paid is not automatically the only person who owes.

Debt Sync turns that into who owes whom. Recording that money moved does not cover the bill by itself. Settle that payment on the expense so the amount owed is covered.
